The gardens of the Chateau de Caudon can be found near to Domme in the Dordogne in south-west France. The gardens have been classified as a "Remarkable garden" of France.

These gardens built around a chateau have an English-Chinese inspiration and were created between 1808 and 1814.

The gardens are located above the village of Domme giving great views over Domme and the Dordogne valley.

The garden has an alley of plane trees of around 200 years old and consisting of 32 trees in all which leads from the entrance gate to the chateau.

The gardens include a lot of clipped box hedging and there is an English style garden a box garden and a park and a lovely little monolithic chapel.

The English style garden was restored after years of neglect and in 1997 was rewarded with the VMF Ginkgo Biloba prize.

Gardens of the Chateau de Caudon garden guide

The garden is open from 30 June to 20 July and from the 1st to 21st September, everyday from 11h00 to 16h00. It is also open for the "Rendez Vous au Jardins" at the begining of June and the "Jours du Patrimoine" in the middle of September.

The garden is situated east of Domme between Vitrac and Turnac in the Dordogne region.
