These gardens are in the grounds of an absolutely beautiful medieval castle and it is worth going for that alone. However the gardens too, whilst not extensive are full of charm.

There is a potager, large 18th century topiaries intersperced with beautiful roses and small but interesting borders around the base of the castle.

May is one of the best months to visit the garden as the 150 varieties of ancient roses emit a heavenly perfume over the garden. Large cone shaped clipped hedges add style and structure to the garden and a long herbacious border adds an English-style charm to too.

There is also a woodland area and fruit and walnut trees in the gardens too.
